Dear Imam Abdulmalik Mohammed,
What does the term "toxic masculinity" mean and how should we understand the purpose behind its creation and usage? I understand that legitimate concerns are often associated with this term but what message does it communicate to our young men and women?
IMAM EARL ABDULMALIK MOHAMMED: As-Salaam Alaikum. This term could mean many things. I do not know what is intended by it. However, attacks on masculinity and femininity are in the story of Cain and Abel. It is War on Ability and War on Innocence. Another of the schemes against man. Male and female are the two expressions of human form and human potential. The humanity is the same, and both states of being, ability and innocence, are necessary for the quality or intended existence. One cannot exist without the other. Therefore, the urge for harmony is in both forms, and the desire for balance is in both forms. If there is an assault or war on either, then the system is out of harmony and balance. The assault on maleness is the war on ability. The assault on femaleness is the war on innocence.
Cain assaulted his brother Abel. Abel is the balance, the harmony, the one who is acceptable to G'd. Cain is a logic that grows into human society wanting to compete with G'd's Plan for humanity. It is a strong stalk, a powerful logic.
We resist the war on maleness. We resist the war on femaleness. We seek the balance.
Our community that is associated with Imam W. Deen Mohammed has been assaulted by this logic. We have been poisoned to want and prefer preachers to lead us, not teachers. Muhammed the Prophet was the Liberator. Why is he Liberator? Because he lifted the heavy burden off of the people, took the restraints from around their feet, and their necks. That which they were standing upon, and that which was feeding their thinking which was poisoning them and preventing clear reasoning; he freed them from that. Preachers weigh heavily on the emotional nature and if left without the influence of teachers, they feed an intoxicating sweetness into the bloodstream of the people. They poison the blood with sugar. Sugars are the fundamental ingredient in intoxicating drinks. Teachers reveal the nature and working of systems, and so they will alert the body that there are toxins threatening the balance, and this will temper the intake of sugar.
We, who knew Imam W. Deen Mohammed, didn't think of him as a preacher. If we said this of him, we were saying it in the context of him preaching in the tradition of Prophet Muhammed, the prayers and the peace be on him. We do not think of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad as a preacher either. But, these we have now, who say they are our leaders, they are preachers. If you were to transcribe their khutbahs, the logic would not hold up to the scrutiny of a discerning mind. Their appeal is to the irrational, though they appear to be standing straight up as Imams. They are Cain. Sugar Cain. And they are making war on our ability to think properly. And so our people appear woozy and out of balance and ultimately unproductive in serving our real-life needs. I am pointing to our People, but this is a Sign that is given in the Holy Qur'an teaching that mankind will experience this condition as a whole in the Day of the Conclusion. That mankind will appear in a drunken state. This means an unproductive state.
I would say more, but in time we will address this in more detail. I want our enemies to know, Imam W. Deen Mohammed's thinking is back on the scene in truth and in reality. It is not in his person that they have tried to vinegarize and present to the people. It is in his living successor and those growing numbers supporting him.
