ARTICLE 9

The corporation does indemnify the incorporator, and any and all employees, and Majlis members of the corporation from any liability regarding the corporation and the affairs of the corporation, unless the person fraudulently and intentionally violated the law and maliciously conducted acts to damage and/or defraud the corporation, or as otherwise provided under applicable California statute.

 

ARTICLE 10

The purpose of the Corporation is exclusively for religious purposes including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, or the correspondence section of any future federal tax code, and herein stated as follows:

  1. To project the correct image of the religion of Islam and Muslims according to its sacred sources of knowledge: The Holy Qur'an and Example of Muhammed the Prophet

  2. To answer the need of an inquiring and growing national and international public as to Islam's correct image by providing public access to credible and quality programs which highlight Islamic teachings and Muslim religious community social interests, pursuits, and commitments which focus and serve the public good.

  3. To serve the best of the societal bonds of the American people as promoted by the teachings of the Holy Qur'an, Muhammed the Prophet, and the W. Deen Mohammed school of religious teaching and community emphasis or 'Tradition'.

  4. To serve the domestic Muslim-American community in general, as well as any individual or groups of Muslims and other religious peoples, which sincerely and earnestly seek knowledge and education about Islam and its peoples, and which welcome friendly and cooperative associations with the Muslim-American community.

  5. To organize and participate in public gatherings (speeches, seminars, cultural programs, conventions, etc.) in order to effectively realize items 1-4 above, and to develop and distribute educational materials and aides (pamphlets, books, magazines, websites, social media activity, etc.) for the same.

  6. To organize fundraising programs and solicit private donations in support of items 1-5 above.

  7. To specifically support the leadership and public Islamic religious and social teaching activities of Muslim-American leader Earl Abdulmalik Mohammed as successor in the W. Deen Mohammed Tradition, and any qualified and recognized leaders in the W. Deen Mohammed Tradition, in furtherance of items 1-6 above.

ARTICLE 11

The property of the corporation shall be dedicated to its religious purposes. No part of the net earnings of the corporation shall inure to the benefit of, or be distributable to its Majlis Members or private persons, except that the corporation shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the Purpose set forth in Article 10.

No substantial part of the activities of the corporation shall be the carrying on of propaganda (this does not refer to Islamic 'Call' or invitation to faith as Islamic teachings define it, or what may be referred to as 'dawah'), or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, and the corporation shall not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distribution of statements) any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.

Notwithstanding any other provision of these articles, this corporation shall not, except to any insignificant degree, engage in any activities or exercise any powers that are not in furtherance of the Purposes of this corporation.
