MUSLIM-AMERICAN MINISTRY FOR HUMAN SALVATION
Earl Abdulmalik Mohammed, successor to the late Muslim leader and reformer, Imam W. Deen Mohammed, was released yesterday from custody at the Federal Prison Complex at Butner, NC, after serving seven years of a nine-year sentence for a single count of mail fraud.
Mohammed was National Representative for W. Deen Mohammed beginning in the early 1990's. The elder Mohammed's passing in 2008 brought about a void in the community’s longstanding leadership tradition. In 2016, witnessing the resulting decline as well as a rise in extremism among Islamic communities abroad, Mohammed wrote the internationally acclaimed Democracy, Civic Virtue, and Islam: The Muslim-American Jihad Against Extremism.
The book is at once a moving firsthand account of his tutelage under W. Deen Mohammed and an insightful treatise on the incongruence of extremist philosophies with Qur'anic teaching. In the ensuing years Mohammed’s recorded interviews, addresses, and written commentary have hinted at a vigorous plan for addressing the community's most pressing needs and reintroducing its voice to the national and international arenas.
Muslim leadership the world over took notice and a diverse group of supporters has coalesced around Earl Abdulmalik Mohammed. With their expertise in a range of disciplines including entrepreneurship, media production and education, he has founded the Muslim-American Ministry for Human Salvation, a charitable organization that will sponsor events and oversee many of the Imam’s initiatives. Based in Riverside, California, the Ministry will operate offices in Washington D.C. and Chicago.
Mohammed's representative, Imam Ibrahim El-Amin stated, "We've been looking forward to this day. G'd is with him and with us. There's a lot of work ahead and we intend to get it done."
